“To spread the best Italian and European-themed cooking classes for kids and adults all over the United States.”

The vision statement would be answering the question: “What would the world be like if your (Cooking Italiano’s) dreams came true?”
I’m sure it’s something more than just spreading cooking classes .. it’s the world changing element.

The mission statement is what people do every day – guides the actions of the business, the work of the employees. The vision is why they do what they do every day..

How’s this for an updated vision:

“To establish Cooking Italiano as the best and most respected Italian & European-themed cooking class in the nation.”

    How do we do this?

“By having the best teachers, lesson plans and teaching techniques that allow students to safely, effectively, and with great joy learn to cook Italian food while absorbing Italian culture.”

as inspired by the Starbucks vision, shown here

That is a brand-oriented vision, so if you want your employees passionate about developing a respected cooking class, then go for it.

Personally, I tend to favor the benefit or emotionally-driven vision statements. For example, “To share the joy and experience of European cooking with children nationwide, so that they may be more well-rounded individuals.” As an employee, this is something that would help me answer “why am I getting up in the morning to work”, if my belief system resonated with it.
